Service for Sunday 21st June

We have a guest Preacher for Sunday, June 21st, it is the Bishop of Basingstoke David Williams, who was formerly a Priest in the Diocese. I worked with David when he was the Vicar of Dore & he was instrumental in my decision to enter the process to be Ordained [Don’t let this colour your views of him!].

He is preaching in the context of the Generous June campaign, to help us consider afresh the generosity of God.  The last time he visited us here in Wath he ended up telling the vendors of the local Fish & Chip shop that Wath Church was a wonderful place to be, & even though he has never been, he was right!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Where there is darkness in this world help us to bring your light, the light of truth justice and peace.

Hear our prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,

We pray for the persecuted Christians of this world, we ask that you would protect them, and may they be free from fear and full of joy.

Hear our prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,

We ask for your blessing upon your Church, the body of Christ.  Help your Church to bring love and hope into every situation.

Hear our prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,

We thank you that you are generous God, one who gives without measure, help us to be generous as we seek to live out the life of Christ in the midst of a fallen world.

Hear our prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,

We pray for those who are struggling at this time, particularly those who are in debt, those who are ill, those who are lonely, those who feel neglected and those who lack a sense of hope.

Hear our prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,

Keep us safe, keep us faithful, keep us smiling, and help us to give time to hear the still small voice of God.
