Intercessions by Rev. John Parker

We pray for the Church:

Loving God,

Pour out your Holy Spirit on people of all denominations,

all over the world.

Make them ready to be changed and made new.

Make us ready to be changed ourselves

So that we may be of greater service to you

in our own communities.

With our whole selves we pray:

Come, Holy Spirit of God.

We pray for all the peoples of the earth:

May they sense the healing power of your Spirit

so that they yearn for peace, and put their differences on one side.

We thank you that every life matters to you, all are valued equally.

We remember today the conflict in the Holy Land and the continuing unrest between the Israelis and Palestinians

Loving God, breathe your Spirit on all those who feel anger and hostility.

Bring them peace and reconciliation.

With our whole selves we pray:

Come, Holy Spirit of God.

We pray for those who need to feel the healing touch of your Spirit today.

Loving God, may all in need feel the gentle touch of your Spirit

All who are sad and lonely

All who are sick and in pain

All who are homeless and feel unloved

All who frightened and distressed.

Bring to all in need, quietness and rest in body and mind.

With our whole selves we pray:

Come, Holy Spirit of God.

We pray for those we love who have returned to you.

Especially we remember those who have died through the influence of this awful virus

Enfold them in your loving care and bring your spirit of consolation to all who mourn for them.

With our whole selves we pray:

Come, Holy Spirit of God.

We pray for ourselves:

Breath of God, gently whispering in our ears,

Remove the dust of apathy from our lives.

Give us energy that we may be:

A source of comfort for those who are sick

A source of peace for those who are fighting

A source of love for those who are lonely.

With our whole selves we pray:

Come, Holy Spirit of God.

Merciful Father

Accept these prayers

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord
