Service for Sunday 12th July

Our preacher for today is me.

The prayers for today are by Charles.

I hope & pray that you are all well & are managing to keep in contact with others, via various means.

Lord, we live in a world blighted by sin and suffering.  Thank you for the beauty we still see around us, reminding and pointing to your creating hand and your glory.  In the seriousness and urgency of our environmental crisis, jolt the leaders and peoples of the world; each of us together to agree and commit to better stewarding and caring for the earth we live in.

Lord in your mercy   Hear our prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to set us free to know and love you.  Look with compassion and protect we pray your suffering church.  We pray especially today for Nigeria, where 7 thousand Christians have been martyred for their faith since 2015.  We cry out to you to turn the minds of those who persecute your church form darkness to light.  Strengthen, humble and fill your church in all countries of the world that your love, light and mercy would shine through.

Lord in your mercy   Hear our prayer

God our Father, we pray for our community, neighbours, friends and family.  Remembering all those who have lost loved ones due to the pandemic and its knock-on effects on diagnoses and treatments.  Praying too for all who now face hardship and loss of livelihood through factors out of their control.  May relief, support, finance and assistance get to the most needy.  We pray for healing, new life, protection and your heavenly blessing.

Lord in your mercy   Hear our prayer

Holy Spirit, please guide each of us who know and follow you to daily be drawn closer to your presence, to recognise those moments when you are directing our path, and space to wait for you and be obedient to your call.

Merciful Father, Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
