Today is Advent Sunday & we will be lighting the first candle on our Advent Wreath during the private prayer session in Church on Sunday [open from 10 – 11am]. If you would like to follow the lighting of the first candle & join in with the liturgy online, then the words can be found at the bottom of this page.
On Monday at 11am we are holding the second of our Discussion Groups via ZOOM. The focus of the discussion will be the Sunday Sermon [please see the above link]. These Groups will take place on November 30th, & December 7th & 14th, I will host 1 session & Charles will host 2. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible. You can join the discussion, ask questions or just listen.
Our application to employ a youth, children’s & families worker has been successful, & after agreeing to some conditions linked to the project we hope to begin the process of putting together a job/person spec very soon.
We are [hopefully] starting to make plans regarding our Christmas services, which for obvious reasons will be somewhat ‘trimmed back’, but we still hope to be able to celebrate the coming of our Lord. Due to the current regulations we hope to be able to do some Carol singing around the Parish in groups of 6 on Wednesday December 23rd. Pleased do keep this date in mind as we look to explore the possibility of doing this. We hope that other Churches in Wath may join us.
Unless I have read the Government guidelines incorrectly we will be restarting the 9.30am Communion Service on Thursday 3rd December, and there will be Communion services at 8.30 & 10.30am on Sunday 6th December.
God of Abraham and Sarah,
and all the patriarchs of old,
you are our Father too.
Your love is revealed to us in Jesus Christ,
Son of God and Son of David.
Help us in preparing to celebrate his birth
to make our hearts ready for your Holy Spirit
to make his home among us.
We ask this through Jesus Christ,
the light who is coming into the world.
