You might have noticed a new acronym popping up all over the place of late – GDPR – or the General Data Protection Regulation. It’s EU legislation that comes into force on 25th May this year. It replaces the existing law on data protection (the Data Protection Act 1998) and gives individuals more rights and protection in how their personal data is used by organisations. GDPR builds on existing Data Protection legislation and on the good practices we are all already applying in our parish – we take care of people’s data and aim to be good stewards of it.
We’ve already been working hard to ensure that we comply with the new GDPR. It’s important that you know and understand our approach to storing and processing the personal information we hold about a person so please read our data privacy statement (hyperlink) to find out more.
